Amid the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs on Monday filed a complaint against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee in the teacher recruitment (SSC) scam against former state minister Partha Chatterjee. Protest against joining. They raised “chor-chor” slogans against Mamata Banerjee and TMC. The MPs protested near the Gandhi statue in the Parliament House complex.
West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said, “We are here demanding Mamata Banerjee’s resignation as nothing can happen without her permission.” Let us tell you, Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Central Agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 23 July.
Just before his arrest, the agency had recovered around Rs 21 crore from Arpita Mukherjee hideouts. In the action of ED, about 50 crore rupees have been recovered from Arpita’s hideouts so far. A huge amount of gold was also recovered in the raids by the ED.
After the disclosure and arrest of this scam, TMC distanced itself from Partha Chatterjee. CM Mamta Banerjee has removed him from the cabinet and removed him from all party posts. TMC has said that, till the investigation continues, Partha Chatterjee will remain suspended from the party.
Meanwhile, days after cash and kilos of gold were seized from Arpita Mukherjee’s houses, Chatterjee on Sunday claimed that the money did not belong to him. When asked about who was behind this conspiracy, he told media persons, “When the time comes, you will come to know…the money is not mine.”
Apart from this, the BJP on Sunday demanded the removal of the chapter “Singur Andolan” from the class 8 history books of West Bengal. BJP says that in this chapter, ‘corrupt’ leader Partha Chatterjee has been glorified as a freedom fighter. BJP national secretary Anupam Hazra has asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to remove the name of former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee from the pages of the history books of the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad.
Hazra tweeted that Chief Minister, this man is now in jail for embezzling the money of lakhs of educated unemployed youth. Now at least remove his name from the pages of class 8 history books. Otherwise, the new generation will start considering this person as equal to Netaji and Khudiram Bose.
Let us inform that Partha Chatterjee was in charge of the education department at the time of the alleged teacher recruitment scam in government schools and aided schools. Chatterjee, a five-time MLA, was appointed as the minister in charge of higher education and school education in 2014 and held the portfolio till 2021. Later this department was taken over from him. The Enforcement Directorate is probing allegations of alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers by the School Service Commission.
