Gairsain : Angry contractors, angry with the issue of royalty’s mandate regarding the increase in royalty, have sounded the trumpet of the agitation on Wednesday as per the previously announced program.
The members of Durga Deva Contractors Association, by gathering at Ramlila Maidan in Gairsain Nagar, declared the movement as a cross-cutting battle and vowed to continue the agitation till action is taken on the demands. Rejecting the request of Deputy District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Pandey, who reached the spot to persuade the angry contractors, said to continue the agitation.
According to the schedule, on Wednesday, all the contractors, led by the organization’s patron Harendra Kandari, gathered at Ramlila Maidan, where anti-government slogans were raised and warnings were given to intensify the agitation if the demands were not met. It was said that the contractors are doing work in extreme conditions, and on June 28, taking a unilateral decision, the government has increased the royalty five times, which is not possible to be paid. Said that problems are being faced in paying the royalty being taken in the past, but due to the increased fear, royalty cannot be deposited.
Organization President Balbir Rawat said that after the fast starting from Wednesday, all offices would be locked down on August 11 and would sit on an indefinite hunger strike from August 13. Not accepting the assurance of SDM Santosh Pandey to take action on behalf of the government, the members of the organization talked about continuing the movement.
On this occasion more than 4 dozen contractors including Dinesh Purohit, Khim Singh, Kundan Singh, Padan Singh, Laxman Singh, Ram Prasad, Amar Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Ramesh Soriyal were present.
