Jalpaiguri : Durga Puja is nearby. Various tea garden authorities have already started giving bonuses to the workers. Crowds of ordinary people have flocked to the market stalls for Puja shopping. In this situation the counterfeit note dealers have become active in and around Oodlabari. This has put a dent in the foreheads of traders.
It is learned that 500 and 2000 counterfeit notes have already spread in the market, local traders said. Tapan Ghosh, secretary of the Oodlabari Merchant Association, said, “Counterfeit notes are seen in the Oodlabari market area. Some unscrupulous people are trying to spread these fake notes in the market in the face of Puja. This is the problem for the business people and the common people. “He added,” Puja bonus will be given in different tea gardens. At that time it will be easier to spread fake notes. Ordinary people will spread them without knowing it.”
Raju Agarwala, a trader from Oodlabari, said, “Two days ago, counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 came to my shop. I did not understand in the crowd who gave. I have come to know that such counterfeit notes have been found in several shops like mine. Complaints have also been lodged in this regard.
