New Delhi : The world is currently facing the fourth wave of Corona. Corona cases are increasing rapidly in India. The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that the Omicron variant has spread to almost all parts of the country. The government said that Corona still remains a matter of concern in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi and the electoral state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of deaths in the third wave is much less as compared to the second wave. The government is considering vaccination as the reason behind the reduction in deaths. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said today that central health teams have been sent to these states and the situation is being reviewed.
The Health Ministry has expressed concern over the covid situation in 6 states. In these states, the weekly positivity rate has increased in the week ending January 20 as compared to the week ended January 13. As per the data, Maharashtra (20.35% vs. 22.12%), Karnataka (6.78% vs. 15.12%), Tamil Nadu (10.70% vs. 20.50%), Kerala (12.28% vs. 32.34%), Delhi (21.70% vs. 30.53%) and North The situation in the state (3.32% vs. 6.33%) is a matter of concern.
Weekly positivity rate close to 16 percent
The Union Health Ministry has emphasized that there are 515 districts across the country where the positivity rate was more than 5 percent in the last week. Apart from this, the government specifically talked about 6 states, where the positivity rate has increased significantly. The Health Ministry said that India continues to increase the cases of covid-19 and in the last one week, the weekly positivity rate has touched the figure of about 16 percent. The good news is that the number of hospitalizations and deaths has been very less.
Vaccinations and masks will have to be followed
Dr VK Paul, head of the covid Task Force, said that the circumstances of the epidemic show that for the third time the surge has spread to almost all parts of the country. It is also clear that the death toll has decreased.
Vaccination has acted as a shield. The mortality rate is quite low. However, the positivity rate is 16 per cent higher. There are some states, where the positivity rate (Goa) is 50 per cent. The virus is spreading rapidly. Vaccinations and masks have to be followed. We cannot underestimate the caution.
