Good news came out for the taxpayers on Thursday. In fact, the Income Tax Department said that till now a refund of Rs 1.54 lakh crore has been made. This information was given by the Income Tax Department through a tweet.
According to the CBDT, from April 1, 2021 to January 10, 2022, 1.59 crore taxpayers have been paid. In 1.56 crore cases, Rs 53,689 crore deposited income tax has been refunded, while in 2.21,976 cases, Rs 1,00,612 crore has been refunded, the department said. It was told by the department that the deadline of December 31 was fixed on the new e-filing portal for the financial year 2020-21. About 5.89 crore income tax returns were filed till this date. Out of this, over 46.11 lakh ITRs were filed on December 31 itself. According to the CBDT, about 5.89 crore income tax returns were filed on the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department till December 31, 2021.
If you want to check your refund whether received or not, there is an easy way. You can check the status through the website of Income Tax Department. You can also do this work easily through your PAN and Login ID and Password.
In case of non-receipt of refund, first log in to your income tax account on the Income Tax Department website.
Then click on My Accounts option
After that click on Refund and then on Demand Status.
Enter here the assessment year for which you want to know the refund.
By doing this, the information related to the refund will be revealed.
In this, information about not sending refund will also be found.
If you want to get the refund amount in your account, then the most important thing is to keep in mind that fill the bank account information with utmost care. However these days your account is already linked with returns. But if you account is not linked then first you have to verify it.
You can still fill ITR
If you have not been able to file your ITR by 31st December 2021, then there is nothing to worry about. Now you have time to file your ITR till 31st March 2022. However, for late filling, you will have to pay a fine.
