Uttarkashi: On the occasion of National Press Day, under the aegis of District Information Department, Uttarkashi, a press conference was grandly organized at District Headquarters Uttarkashi and Yamunotri Press Club Barkot. In the talk, God was wished for the speedy recovery of District Journalist Association President Shiv Singh Thalwal.
It may be known that the discussion was held on the theme *”the media’s role in nation building”* suggested by the Press Council of India, Delhi. In which the press representatives present their views.
Journalist Union Vice President Rajesh Raturi said that media is the fourth pillar of the society. At present, apart from print, electronic media, social media has also been established rapidly in the modern era, which is a challenge in terms of truthfulness and information of news. Press Club President Chiranjeev Semwal described the media as the mirror of the society. He said that media has played an important role in nation building. Whether it is the Indian National Movement or the state formation of Uttarakhand, the media has played an important role. General Secretary Journalist Union Balbir Parmar said that our country is the nation with the largest mandate in the world. In which the media plays an important role in bringing the issues of public concern before the administration. Independent journalist Lokendra Bisht said that media has played an important role in nation building. Journalism acts as a bridge between the government and the public. All the incidents that are happening in the present scenario, the media works to reach those incidents to the public and the administration. Press Club treasurer Surendra Nautiyal said that journalism is the pen that has the ability to change the society. Gangotri Samachar editor Rajendra Prasad Bhatt said that the media should raise the voice of the poor people. Government administration needs to work for the poor. When our poor family standing in the last line becomes prosperous, then only the real construction of the nation will happen. Senior journalist and editor Garh Raibar Surendra Dutt Bhatt, presiding over the meeting, kept his views about father journalism.
