The Reserve Bank of India had started work on a project to promote digital payments. Through this project, it was prepared to make digital payment without internet. According to the Reserve Bank, now internet will not be required for digital payment up to Rs 200. That is, now no one will need internet to send money. Let’s see how this project works.
Payment through this project can be done only face-to-face. In order to promote small digital transactions in offline mode, RBI has collaborated with some bodies. It was tested from September 2020 to July 2021. After this, on August 6, the Reserve Bank had approved the pilot scheme related to it.
Transfer money without internet
Through this project of RBI, you will be able to do money transactions without internet. There will be no need for internet or telecom collectivity for offline payment. According to the RBI, the Authorized Payment System Operators (PSOs) and Payment System Participants (PSPs) will have to follow the new guidelines for adopting such offline digital payments. RBI said that a maximum amount of Rs 2000 can be paid in this way at a time. Once the limit is over, it can be increased through online.
Digital will accelerate in rural areas
This new project of RBI will accelerate digital payments in rural areas. Even today many people in rural areas do not have a smartphone. Apart from this, there are many places where there is a network problem. It is very difficult to make digital payment in such a place. In such a situation, this new project will encourage digital transactions in rural areas.
