New Delhi : More than 7 lakh farmers in Uttar Pradesh may have to return the 10th installment of PM Kisan Yojana. According to a newspaper report, the money received under the 10th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme may have to be returned due to ineligibility of terms and conditions.
Why should the installment be refunded?
According to an English newspaper report, these 7 lakh farmers are either paying income tax for earning from other sources or are not eligible for cash benefit of Rs 2000 per installment. Under PM Kisan Yojana, an amount of Rs 6000 is released in 3 installments every year in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
According to the report of the English newspaper, all these farmers are from Uttar Pradesh which means that more than 7 lakh farmers of UP may have to return the 10th installment received under PM Kisan Yojana. These will be those farmers who are paying income tax from other sources for earning or they are not eligible.
Government can take action if the installment is not returned
These more than 7 lakh farmers will have to be returned before the state assembly elections. If these farmers do not do this, then the central government can take legal action against them.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 10th installment of financial benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme through video conferencing on January 1.
