New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) in Kolkata on Friday through video conferencing. Along with him, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also take a virtual part in the inauguration ceremony. The Center and the West Bengal government have built it at a total cost of Rs 530 crore. It has 460 beds. It has state-of-the-art infrastructure for cancer diagnosis and treatment and care.
Expansion was necessary because of the rush of patients.
Due to the huge influx of cancer patients at CNCI, the government felt the need for its expansion. In the construction of the second campus, the Central Government has given about Rs 400 crore and the remaining amount is 130 crore by the West Bengal government. It has been made keeping in view the expansion and development of health facilities in all parts of the country as per the vision of the Prime Minister.
These are modern facilities
The second campus of CNCI is equipped with modern facilities like Nuclear Medicine (PET), 3.0 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice CT Scanner Radionuclide Therapy Unit, Endoscopy Suite, Modern Brachytherapy Unit. It will also serve as a developed cancer research facility and will provide best care to cancer patients especially from the eastern and north-eastern parts of the country.
Will take virtual part in PM’s program
Mamta Banerjee said that Corona is spreading rapidly. People are urged to work from home. She will take part in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual program from her home on Friday. PM will inaugurate the new campus of Chittaranjan Cancer Institute, of which the state government is part.
