Haldwani: The driver-operator crisis is going on in two major roadways depots. Due to which it is often difficult to send buses on the route. The effect is more when the number of drivers coming from a long route becomes more. Due to going on rest, the officers run their work as usual. There is a shortage of more than 80 drivers and operators in Haldwani and Kathgodam depots. Same is the case with other depots. State President of Uttaranchal Roadways Employees Union, Kamal Papnai said that since three and a half years, drivers and operators are not being recruited under the deceased dependent quota in the corporation. Due to which there is a shortage of employees. Operational staff is being taken through outsourced. Generally, the operation of roadways is done as-is. But due to the schedule and holiday reasons of an employee organization, problems arise. Two days ago there was an employee union meeting. In this, 12 buses could not go on the route even after the drivers were gathered as a member. In the Roadways Employees Joint Council, a flurry of elections has started. It will start from the corporation’s big depot Haldwani. After this, the branch heads of other depots will also be elected. Council leader RS Negi said that soon a meeting will be held in the roadways station and discussion will be held regarding the elections.
