Siliguri Hospitals also getting surge in sick children cases

Siliguri : Someone is coughing, a child is sweating with fever, someone is bedridden due to weak body. Some of the children on the floor and outside of the hospital ward were crying due to illness. Picture of the children’s ward in the interior of Siliguri District Hospital.

According to hospital sources, 80 percent of them are suffering from diseases like fever and cold. The hospital has admitted 30 children with viral fever since last Sunday. Although the number of beds was 34, 8 children were admitted on Monday. The pediatricians of the district hospital also think that such admission of children in the district hospital before the third wave of corona is somehow unprecedented.

Not just in the interior. Crowds of patients have also flooded the outpatient department. Parents had to stand with their children close to each other without following the distance rules. Doctors say that there is a risk of spreading the infection at any time. But the question arises as to why the authorities are not taking alternative measures in such a crowd.

According to hospital sources, another day there was a crowd of 100-150 pediatric patients in the outpatient department. More than 300 people have been crowding in the last one week. Most of the 350 children were suffering from fever and cold on Monday, said Subir Bhowmik, a pediatrician at the district hospital. He said that many children are suffering from bronchitis starting from cold. Before the second wave, people’s awareness was much higher. Now it has decreased a lot. Many are taking children out into the crowd. Many people are getting fever due to the whimsy of sun and rain.

“There is no way children can be taken into the crowd,” said Subirbabu. Even if the adults of the family go out in the crowd and interact with the children, the infection of this viral fever may increase. ‘ Positive patients did not match.

Subrata Kundu, a resident of Haiderpara, went to the outpatient department of the district hospital with his 3-year-old son. He said, “Even after taking fever medicine for the last 2-3 days, it has not healed. Went to the crowd. “
