West Bengal : The investigation of the education scam in West Bengal has now reached the ministers. West Bengal government minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday morning. The ED team was investigating the house of Minister Partha Chatterjee since Friday.
After a long interrogation, the minister in the Mamata Banerjee-led government, Partha Chatterjee, was arrested. The ED had also raided the house of Arpita Mukherjee, considered close to Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. Arpita has also been taken into custody.
ED arrested after 26 hours of interrogation
ED officials had questioned Minister Partha Chatterjee overnight on Friday in connection with the alleged teacher recruitment scam. He was questioned yesterday at 8 am, which continued on Saturday. After 26 hours of interrogation, the minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, Partha Chatterjee was arrested.
Going for medical
According to the information, Partha Chatterjee is being taken for medical after arrest. Parth will be taken to the CGO Complex in Kolkata. Partha Chatterjee has cited poor health this morning. After this a team of two doctors also reached the spot.
Arpita Mukherjee also in custody
The ED had also raided the house of Arpita Mukherjee, considered close to Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. Around 20 crore cash was found from his house. According to the latest report, the ED has also taken Arpita Mukherjee into custody. He is also being questioned. Arpita is said to be the legal advisor of Partha Chatterjee. Apart from this, 20 valuable mobile phones, gold, foreign currency, land documents have been recovered from his house.
ED also raided many other places
Let us tell you that when this alleged teacher recruitment scam happened, Chatterjee was the education minister of the state. The Enforcement Directorate is probing the money laundering aspect against those allegedly involved in the scam.
Apart from Arpita, ED has also raided many other places. Names like Manik Bhattacharya, Alok Kumar Sarkar, Kalyan Moy Ganguly are also included in this list. All of them were named in the Bengal education recruitment scam.
