India got off to a good start in 2020 at the Tokyo Paralympics on Friday. Indian para table tennis player Bhavna Ben Patel defeated Brazil’s Joyce de Oliveira 3-0 to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Paralympics. Their next match will be on Friday at 3:50 pm. Where she will face in the quarter finals.
Bhawna beat Joyce in straight sets
Bhawna defeated Joyce 3-0 (12-10, 13-11, 11-6) in all three straight sets to advance to the next round. Joyce started the game on the lead but Bhavna came back strongly to win the first set 12-10. After this Bhavna did not give Joyce any chance to make a comeback. Won the second set 13-11 and the third set 11-6.
Bhawna beat Megan Shackleton 3-1 on Thursday
On Thursday, Bhavna Patel defeated Megan Shackleton of Great Britain 3-1 in a thrilling match. On the other hand, India’s para table tennis player Sonalben Patel had to face defeat at the hands of South Korea’s Lee Migyu in the singles Group D of the women’s singles category 3 on Thursday. Mi-Gyu defeated Sonalben 3-1 (10-12, 11-5, 11-3, 11-9) and the entire match lasted just 30 minutes.
