New Delhi : In the midst of rising corona cases in the country, the Election Commission had imposed some restrictions in the upcoming elections. Today, on 23 December (Saturday), the Election Commission will hold an important meeting. In this meeting, a decision will be taken regarding the restrictions imposed earlier by the Commission.
In fact, the Election Commission has banned road shows, rallies, public meetings etc. in the five election states till January 22 due to corona infection. In such a situation, tomorrow this deadline will end. The Election Commission will take a decision on increasing or eliminating restrictions on election rallies, processions and road shows in its meeting to be held tomorrow at 11 am.
Election Commission:
On January 8, the Election Commission announced the dates for the upcoming elections in five states of the country. The Election Commission had banned rallies and public meetings till January 15, along with the announcement of the dates, citing Corona.
On January 15, this ban was extended for a week till January 22. Now on January 22, the Election Commission will meet again and take a decision regarding the ban on election rallies. This election is being held amid Corona virus infection. In such a situation, the commission has taken many precautionary steps for voting.
No change in voting dates:
The dates for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa have been announced. Polling is to be held in these states from February 10 to March 7. Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand will go to polls in a single phase. Voting will be held in Manipur in two phases.
Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, voting will be completed for the assembly elections in seven phases. On March 10, votes will be counted in all the five states simultaneously and the results will be announced. Let us tell you that there is a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. There is a Congress government in Punjab.
